FURA 60

The Association of Radio Amateurs in Umeå (FURA), Sweden, celebrates her first 60 years in 2006. As part of the festivities FURA issues the FURA 60 Award. The award is free of charge and instituted to enhance outside interest in working SM2 and to raise activity within FURA.

Work FURA stations (calls 7S2AT, SK2T, SK2AT) and/or her members during 2006. A member list is given below. A QSO with 7S2AT gives 3 points and QSOs with SK2T and SK2AT give 2 points. QSOs with FURA members give 1 point. Points are counted once per band. For hams in SM/EU 15 points are required, while DX stations need 10 points. For example, QSOs with 7S2AT on five different bands is enough for the award.

7S2AT is active on all bands between 23 cm and 160 m, and this call and the other club call will be available in major contests.

To get the award, please send an email with an extract from your log to FURA at email address: sk2at@hotmail.com.

Salt Water Award

  • The Salt Water Award is issued by Hisingens Radioklubb SK6AW, with gracious interest from the Göteborg and Bohuslaen Tourist Traffic Association, Nature Conservancy Unit at the Gothenburg and Bohuslaen County Council, and not least - our own SM6 District manager, DL6.
  • The Salt Water Award programme has been initiated to encourage radio amateurs with access to a boat to take their amateur radio equipment with them in the boat and work /MM or to work /6P from islands and skerries, to find new ground to walk on, or to show that you do not need to put more than a few puny Watts into your antenna to make contact, but also to promote interest in the beautiful archipelago outside Göteborg, which is without parallel and also to promote knowledge about when, where and how you must not tie up to jetties, beaches or rocky shelves because of protected fauna or flora.
  • To obtain The Salt Water Award, you have to make 2-way contacts on any permitted amateur band with stations on islands, islets, rocks and reefs, or by establishing contact from any islands, islets, rocks and reefs noted in our record book, and in accordance with the rules below. Radio Listeners (SWLs) can also qualify for The Salt Water Award.
  • All frequencies allocated for amateur radio use are valid for the diploma. It can be obtained for all modes, or with an endorsement for a particular frequency band, mode etc.
  • All QSOs after 1 June 1976 are valid for the diploma.
  • The diploma is issued in the following classes: Basic diploma for 10 verified and/or activated islands. Stickers for each additional 25 verified and/or activated islands.
A new diploma can be obtained for every new 100 islands verified and/or activated.
  • Our application form must be used for the application. An application form is included in the record-book file under the download link.
  • A radio amateur who activates an island himself has the right to count the island as confirmed, if he can confirm by means of an extract from his log book that he transmitted from the island. Each island may only be counted ONCE, however, irrespective of the number of contacts you make with amateurs on the island, or if you have been active there yourself.
  • The position of islands shall be noted as latitude and longitude. The centre has generally been noted.
  • Definition of an island, islets, rock or reef
Only islands noted in our record book are valid for the diploma. The pleasure boat charts were used as the basis for our record book, both as regards the names of islands and their positions. Only islands, islets, rocks or reefs which are always above mean sea water level have been included. Any changes will be notified.
  • Definition of QSO from an island
A valid QSO is of course when radio amateurs transmit from the island and the customary RST reports have been exchanged without the help of external agencies. QSOs are also valid if transmitted from a boat, on condition that the forward mooring line, aft mooring line or any other line is attached to the island. Operation via repeaters is not acceptable.
  • Hisingens Radioklubb - SK6AW - will willingly receive comments on the islands noted etc., if it transpires that our record book does not coincide with reality. After due consideration, the club diploma committee will then inform changes at this website. Decisions can not be contested.
  • The price for the award is SEK 50, 5 EUro or 8 $. Apply with GCR-list and payement to awardmanager (adress below).
